He sounds just like Elton John!” That was an engineer’s assessment, when singer Kenny Metcalf stopped by the studio for a recent Lancer Radio interview. Kenny is the front man for tribute band “Elton: The Early Years.” And his sound, look and stage mannerisms are so close to those of Sir Elton in the 1970s, that even Caleb Quaye was impressed! (Caleb Quaye, who first met Elton John in 1965, was both his original guitarist and the catalyst to his getting signed on his first record label!)
Talented Kenny was the original keyboardist for Christian heavy-metal band Stryper, in the 1980s, in his pre-“Elton” days.. This is Kenny’s third year of portraying Elton with “Elton: The Early Years.” This summer, they rocked the Orange County Fair–and more recently, the L.A. County Fair. Want to see them perform live? According to their Facebook page, they have a November 17th appearance coming up in La Quinta–and a December 22nd appearance at House of Blues, San Diego!
