An Interview with Peter Jesperson, Side Two

Link to Side One of the interview: https://youtu.be/z_875aU2DR0

This is an in-depth interview with Peter Jesperson, part 2. Recorded at Pasadena City College in the Lancer Radio Network performance space.

Peter Jesperson is a co-counder of Twin/Tone Records, an influential figure in the 80’s Minneapolis music scene, the manager and producer for The Replacements, a legendary A&R man, a loving husband and father.

In this interview, fans of alternative/indie music will get a glimpse at the world of independent record labels from the late 1970’s – now. Fans of The Replacements will hear tales from the man that discovered them and was a key figure in the creation of their first four albums (Sorry Ma, Forgot to Take Out the Trash, Stink, Hootenanny, and Let It Be).

Peter also talks about his family, his time at New West Records, his relationships with Vic Chesnutt, Peter Buck, Paul Westerberg, Tommy Stinson, Bob Stinson, Chris Mars, Slim Dunlap, Alex Chilton, and many others.

There’s much to learn and be entertained by in this interview. I hope you enjoy it because I loved every second of working on this project. Thank you, Peter!

James Patrick
