While many students were looking forward to Thursday—because Friday follows not far behind—we here at Lancer Radio Network, were excited for a different reason. We brought the first of many live remote broadcasts of the Fall 2016 semester to Thursday’s Club Week!
Club Week is a three-day event that takes place around the second or third week of each semester. It gives freshmen and continuing students an opportunity to scout and inquire about the many clubs on campus; such as the Veteran’s Club, Queer Alliance, SheCodes, S.I.M.B.A and more! It’s a great way for students to join a club, make friends and become more involved in their campus communities.
This year, Lancer Radio Network was out in the field interviewing club members, as well as perspective members during our live broadcast. Not only were we conducting interviews, but we were also scouting students and gathering information through surveys to better understand our listening audience. We had a great amount of students come to us and inquire about the different certificate programs and express their interest in radio production. Although many were first year students, with the help of our loyal staff members, we gave them useful information and answered questions they had. It came as a surprise that not many students knew Lancer Radio Network existed, but it’s safe to say that next semester we will definitely be having a load of new students who are eager to learn the ins and outs of radio production.
Didn’t know Lancer Radio Network was out on campus giving out the 411? Or did you simply have more questions about the certificates? No worries! Here’s a link dedicated just to you. www.lancerradionetwork.org. There, you will find information about the radio station, as well as the classes needed in order run your very own show online!
Special thanks to all of the staff members who gave their all in order to produce a successful live broadcast and promote Lancer Radio Network!
